I gave my English lesson today on marriage. It started out a bit rough trying to get the kids to tell me about what a wedding in Albania looks like so I decided to switch it up and have the girls come up with a skit of a wedding in Albania and the boys did a skit of a wedding in America. That turned out to be really fun. Then I had them give us English words that described a husband and a wife (see picture below). The things they came up with for a wife and husband were sad and hilarious all at the same time. I erased the wife one before I thought of taking a picture but I think the husband one was better anyway.
Our second English lesson was on Travel. The kids have never traveled on an airplane and only one said he wanted to go to America. The others said they wanted to go to other places on this side of the world. After that we had to work on our videoed skit that all 3 groups will be showing at youth group on Saturday night. Our group will be reinacting Frozen meets Rise of the Guardians. Yea, don't ask, I have no clue. The kids came up with the concept. Maybe I would understand if I had seen Rise of the Guardians. Probably not. :)
Lunch came around and we had French fries again with a little piece of what we think was seasoned pork. Nope, I found out it was veal. And you guessed it... more bread! But the highlight was the watermelon today. That was the best thing I have eaten all week.
Today we played relay games and a balloon pop game. We watched as the very energetic kids ran up and down the field for team points and tried destroying each other's feet as they tried to pop the balloons strapped to their feet. So far our team (The Red Bulls) has had a solid 4th place most of camp.
At one point we were so tired several of us Americans decided to walk to the end of the road where we came into camp to a little house (bar, they call it) to get some Espresso. After we came back on our second to last afternoon of camp a coffee machine truck showed up to bring a coffee maker. Oh well better late than never!
Dinner came around... Soup! We have had soup for 3 nights and they have all been really good. Tonight's dinner came with something like a donut, basically fried dough. Jake decided to put Nutella on it. I think my kids are in Nutella heaven.
After dinner we had a time of worship and Maly gave his testimony. Jeff gave a gospel message tonight from Ephesians 2... We were dead in our sins, But God! He did a wonderful job explaining the gospel to kids, that I believe, have never heard it even though they say they are Christians and go to youth group and church every Saturday and Sunday. The need for true gospel teaching is so great here you can feel it. It is definitely a dry and weary land. In our small group tonight the kids asked us to explain more of what Jeff was teaching. I really don't think they truly understand the basics of Christianity. Sometimes the words don't translate so that can make it interesting. Jeff decided to do a little skit for them. The one a lot of us have seen over and over. Me, a sinner on one side and God on the other side and no way to get to Him. Jeff stood in the middle and explained that Jesus died to bring us to God and then he took off his jacket and put it over me and explained that we now have Christ's righteousness or perfection because of the blood that covers all our sin and we can now come to God. We never thought the most basic explaination would be needed for kids who are in church every week. We asked if that helped them or made them more confused and they said helped so we hope that we have planted just even the smallest seed this week and that God would cause it to grow.
Tomorrow is our last day with these sweet kids. Tomorrow night they go through something they call the Labyrinth. It is basically an interactive gospel presentation. Pray that the true gospel would be understood and God would be glorified through it. Pray for our team... It is going to be hard to leave Saturday morning. It seems I have gained a couple sons while we have been here. Redy and his brother Iglee. Redy is a week younger than Jacob. It's really like they are long lost brothers. We will miss these two.
